Willow Creek sits at the Humboldt-Trinity county line on State Route 299, right where the coastal rainforest gives way to the warmer, drier inland Trinity River valley. About 1,700 people live here, but the actual service area is wider, the working rural parcels, hobby farms, and grower properties stretch for miles up and down the Trinity River in both directions. This is the Bigfoot capital of California (the museum is right on 299), but in our line of work, what Willow Creek is actually known for is deer. A lot of deer.

Residential wood and vinyl: for the in-town residential side, redwood privacy and vinyl both work well. Vinyl needs to be UV-stable spec because Willow Creek gets dramatically more sun than coastal Humboldt.

Climate and site considerations

Willow Creek's climate is a different world than the Humboldt coast. Summer highs regularly hit 90, 100°F, winter lows can drop below freezing, and annual rainfall is significantly lower than Arcata or Eureka. This is actually easier on wood fences (less rot pressure) but tougher on vinyl (faster UV degradation without UV-stable spec). We choose materials and hardware based on what the site actually experiences, not what works fifty miles west.
