Chain Link Fence Installation in Fortuna, CA

Fortuna is our home base, our yard is right on State Highway 36, and we've been installing chain link fences across the Eel River Valley since 2002. The Highway 101 business corridor through Fortuna is our most consistent commercial chain link market. It runs from Pedrazzini Avenue at the north end of town, south through the Redwood Village retail strip, and continues to the Newburg-area light industrial. Typical commercial installs:

Residential chain link in Fortuna

Residential chain link is most common in the flatter neighborhoods off 12th Street, along Rohnerville Road, and in Newburg. Black vinyl-coated is the most popular residential finish. It reads cleaner than bare galvanized and the PVC layer adds protection against the moisture that comes off the river. Standard heights are 4 ft (front and side yards, dog runs) and 6 ft (back yards, property-line fencing).

Floodplain considerations

Fortuna's Bottoms and lower-elevation parcels near the Eel River flood in big winters. Chain link in those zones needs post footings that can handle saturation cycles without heaving. We set posts deeper than our standard, use drainage detail at the post base, and use galvanized post inserts where the wood-to-ground transition would normally fail. We tell you upfront if a section of fence is likely to need rebuild attention after a major flood year.

City of Fortuna fence permits

Inside city limits the rules: front yards capped at 42 inches without a variance; side and rear up to 6 ft permit-exempt; anything taller needs a building permit; corner lots have a 25-ft visibility triangle where nothing exceeds 42 inches. Industrial-zoned parcels along Pedrazzini and the Redwood Village area have different allowances. We pull whichever permits apply and walk plans through the city as part of the install.
